Educating the public on the different issues that young people are facing, and the challenges that are within the neighborhoods of Toronto is a must. By using the medium of Photography, the goals are two-fold; to promote pride and self-awareness amongst participants, as well as to create public awareness about the impact these experiences have had on and in the lives of these youth, including access to meaningful employment and establishing life goals. We created a Awareness & Impact Campaign that will give young people the chance to tell their personal stories of the effect of stereotypes they have each experienced within and out of there community.

This component is mainly focus on Photography, but we also use video. Through pictures and video, our participants will tell a story that will give you a better understanding of the different stereotypes that they face within and out of their community. The young people will decide on a theme they would like to to do, and then work with our photography in making this come alive. The young people will decide on the image they want for this project. The photographer will then travel around the city with the participants and take pictures of them. Each participant will get 100 pictures taken of them. After the pictures are taken, the photographer works with our young people where she teaches them how to use photoshop, and they will get the chance to edit their pictures. Once the pictures have been edited, we will start to plan for the exhibit. The young people will learn how to do curation and after meet with the gallery owner and present it to her. If the presentation is successful, we can setup the exhibit. The end of this project will be our photography/video exhibit where friends and family can come out and see the pictures of our participant.
